About Shurley Wildlife & Habitat Services
Shurley Wildlife & Habitat Services works with private landowners across the Southeast to improve hunting properties through practical wildlife and habitat management.
The work often involves collaboration with land managers and ecological workers such as heavy equipment operators, registered foresters, and wildlife biologists. Timber management and government programs are frequently used to cost share land improvement projects that increase hunting success and improve long term land value.
Matt Shurley has worked with land managers and ecological workers on hunting properties across multiple states, with projects ranging from small tracts of 50 acres to large properties exceeding 5,000 acres.
Matt has also worked with the Jones Center at Ichauway, a 29,000 acre wildlife research center in southwest Georgia. While there, he conducted population surveys of northern bobwhite quail and worked with camera survey data for white-tailed deer, evaluating how habitat type and distance from edge influence wildlife populations.
Experience gained through this work helped shape the development of his management plan and the approach used by Shurley Wildlife & Habitat Services today.
In August 2025, Matt was approved by The Wildlife Society as a professional able to represent the wildlife profession as an ethical practitioner.
If you own land and love to hunt, there is a good chance you need help.
